What is an Ontario annual return?
If you've incorporated in Ontario, you're required to file an annual return confirming your corporation's basic information is still accurate — things like your registered office address and the names of your directors and officers.
It isn't a tax filing and it isn't optional. It's separate from your corporate tax return, and it exists purely to keep the public business registry current. Corporations that don't file can eventually be dissolved by the government for being out of compliance, which creates a much bigger headache to fix than filing on time would have.
The information required is usually already accurate if nothing has changed in your business — which makes this one of the more mechanical filings a small business has to deal with each year. That said, mechanical doesn't mean it doesn't have to be done correctly, and it's an easy one to forget when you're focused on running the business itself.
Verluma can prepare and file your annual return for you once you confirm your current information is correct — no need to log into a government portal yourself, or remember when it's due.
